About the film
Alpha (2025) follows 13-year-old Alpha, a troubled teenager living with her doctor mother in coastal France, whose life begins to unravel after she gets a crude tattoo at a party and becomes fearful she has contracted a mysterious blood-borne disease that appears to transform infected bodies into marble-like stone. As fear spreads through her community and she faces ostracism and bullying, the film explores themes of adolescence, stigma, and social panic. Alpha’s strained relationship with her heroin-addicted uncle Amin and her mother’s growing anxiety drive the emotional core, creating a haunting and contemplative story about fear, transformation, and isolation.
