Altered States 4K Ultra HD + Blu-Ray (UK Edition)
The film
About the film
Obsessed with the origins of human consciousness, scientist Edward Jessup delves into sensory deprivation and psychedelic experiments to unlock primal states of being. But as he pushes the boundaries of the mind, his body begins to regress in terrifying, evolutionary ways. Directed by Ken Russell and based on the novel by Paddy Chayefsky, Altered States is a trippy, cerebral blend of science fiction and body horror. Visually hallucinogenic and philosophically dense, the film explores identity, transcendence, and the chaos lurking within human evolution. With intense performancesÑparticularly from William Hurt in his film debutÑand groundbreaking special effects, it's a cult classic that dares to ask: what happens when the mind breaks free of the body?
