Flow 4K - The Criterion Collection (US Edition)

Flow, directed by Gints Zilbalodis, is a stunning wordless animated adventure set in a post-apocalyptic world where rising floods have submerged much of the land. 

The narrative follows a solitary cat trying to survive in this changed world. The cat first evades danger on dry land, then flees to higher ground when waters engulf its surroundings. 

Eventually, the cat joins a boat alongside other animals—dogs, a capybara, and more—united by the shared imperative to stay afloat and find safety. Together, they navigate surreal, submerged forests and shifting environments. 

Because the film uses no dialogue—just sound design, ambient noise, and movement—much is left implicit. The imagery is rich and symbolic: reflections, rising water, and the relationships among the animals hint at themes of community, survival, and transformation. 

Flow was hailed for its emotional depth, visual elegance, and its daring approach—creating a powerful, almost meditative experience.
