Hairspray (1988) 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray

After decades of pushing the boundaries of bad taste with his underground provocations, John Waters found surprising mainstream success with this infectiously irreverent rock-and-soul comedy.

It’s 1962, and the only things bigger than the bouffant hairdos are the dance crazes sweeping America. When Baltimore teenager Tracy Turnblad (Ricki Lake) becomes an overnight sensation on a local television dance show, her boundless confidence and passionate support for racial integration spark a movement that transforms the city. Featuring an unforgettable double performance from the legendary Divine, Hairspray perfectly balances John Waters’ mischievous, subversive humour with an irresistible warmth, creating one of the most beloved musical comedies of the 1980s.

Presented in a stunning new director-approved 4K restoration supervised by John Waters himself, this Special Edition celebrates the enduring legacy of a film that remains as joyful, rebellious and entertaining as ever.
