About the film
Insurance investigator John Trent is hired to track down Sutter Cane, a best-selling horror novelist whose books are said to drive readers insane. As Trent follows Cane’s trail to the seemingly fictional town of Hobb’s End, reality begins to unravelÑblurring the line between fiction and madness.
Directed by John Carpenter, In the Mouth of Madness is a cerebral, nightmarish descent into Lovecraftian horror, where cosmic dread meets metafiction. With disorienting visuals, surreal transitions, and mounting paranoia, the film explores themes of sanity, authorship, and the thin veil between imagination and oblivion.
Sam Neill delivers a gripping, unhinged performance in a film that’s both a love letter to horror literature and a chilling warning about its power.
