Mona Lisa Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD

Five years after The Long Good Friday, Bob Hoskins returned to the gangster genre Ñ but this time as a low-level underling rather than a kingpin. In Mona Lisa, Hoskins plays George, a chauffeur working for a mesmerisingly slimy gangland boss (Michael Caine), tasked with transporting a high-class prostitute (Cathy Tyson) from client to client. When she asks for his help in tracking down an old friend, George is drawn into a shadowy underworld he never imagined existed.

Hoskins delivers one of the most nuanced and moving performances of his career Ñ a portrayal that swept major Best Actor awards including Cannes, a BAFTA, and a Golden Globe. His George is a man shaped by circumstance and criminal loyalty, yet still clinging to a moral core when the opportunity for redemption appears.

Director Neil Jordan (The Company of Wolves, The Crying Game) and co-writer David Leland (Made in Britain) blend hard-edged realism with unexpected romanticism. The recurring strains of the Nat King Cole title song transform seedy British locations like Soho and Brighton into something strangely lyrical and haunting.

Arrow Films presents this modern British classic in a stunning new 4K restoration.
