Based on Lovecraft’s serialized story, Re-Animator is a cult horror classic that helped redefine the splatter genre of the 1980s. It follows medical student Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs), a brilliant but maniacal scientist obsessed with defeating death. At Miskatonic University, West and his roommate Dan Cain (Bruce Abbott) experiment with a glowing green serum capable of reanimating the deadÑwith increasingly gruesome and chaotic consequences. Infamous for its gore, dark humor, and wicked satire of scientific arrogance, Re-Animator shocked audiences and became a cornerstone of ’80s horror. With Barbara Crampton and David Gale co-starring, Stuart Gordon’s fearless debut remains a defining Lovecraft adaptation.
