About the film
The Mexico Trilogy, directed by Robert Rodriguez, is a landmark in indie action cinema, blending gritty storytelling, explosive visuals, and innovative low-budget filmmaking. The saga begins with El Mariachi (1993), a microbudget debut that launched Rodriguez’s career, where a humble guitar player is mistaken for a killer in a crime-ridden town. Desperado (1995) escalates the action with Antonio Banderas as El Mariachi seeking vengeance for his lover’s death. The final chapter, Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003), adds political intrigue as El Mariachi teams up with a rogue CIA agent to battle a corrupt general. Stylish, fast-paced, and loaded with charisma, this trilogy redefined the action genre.
