About the film

Nicolas Winding Refn directed the 2011 film "Drive." Known for his distinctive neo-noir style, Refn was born in Copenhagen but moved to New York as a child. He gained international acclaim with his debut feature "Pusher" (1996) and continued to push boundaries with films like "Bleeder" (1999) and "Fear X" (2003). His work on "Drive" earned him the Best Director Award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.

Plot Summary: "Drive" follows an unnamed Hollywood stunt driver (Ryan Gosling) who moonlights as a getaway driver. He becomes romantically involved with his neighbor Irene (Carey Mulligan) and gets entangled in a botched heist involving her debt-ridden husband, Standard (Oscar Isaac). The film explores themes of love, crime, and redemption, culminating in a violent and gripping climax.

Awards: "Drive" received critical acclaim and several awards, including the Best Director Award at Cannes. It was also nominated for Best Sound Editing at the 84th Academy Awards.
