Event Horizon (1997) is a claustrophobic sci-fi horror directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, following a rescue crew led by Captain Miller (Laurence Fishburne) as they board the reappeared spaceship Event Horizon in orbit around Neptune. Designed to create a wormhole, the vessel has instead brought back a malevolent supernatural force from “Hell,” leading the crew into nightmarish visions and gruesome deaths.
Anderson’s film combines visceral practical effects and gothic production design to evoke cosmic terror, with standout performances by Sam Neill and Kathleen Quinlan. Over time, it became a cult classic, noted for its unsettling tone and ambition despite initial studio-driven edits.
