Director: Denis Villeneuve, a French-Canadian filmmaker, directed "Incendies." Known for his visually stunning and emotionally powerful films, Villeneuve co-wrote the screenplay with Valérie Beaugrand-Champagne, adapting it from Wajdi Mouawad's play.
Plot: The film follows Canadian twins Jeanne and Simon Marwan, who embark on a journey to their late mother Nawal's native country in the Middle East to uncover her hidden past. Through a series of flashbacks, they discover her tumultuous history during a civil war, including her forbidden love and the existence of a brother they never knew they had.
Awards: "Incendies" received critical acclaim and numerous awards, including eight Genie Awards, with Best Motion Picture among them. It was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2011.
