The Settlers Blu-ray

The Settlers, directed by Felipe Gálvez Haberle, is a stark, revisionist Western set in late 19th-century Chile. It follows a mixed-race Chilean, a British mercenary, and an American marksman as they are hired by a wealthy landowner to clear his newly acquired territoryÑby any means necessary. What begins as a mission of exploration quickly devolves into violence and colonial brutality. Gálvez unflinchingly exposes the horrors of ethnic cleansing under the guise of national expansion. With sweeping landscapes and chilling restraint, The Settlers critiques imperialist ambition and identity, revealing the brutal foundations of modern nationhood through an unsettling lens of realism.
