Perpetrator Limited Edition Blu-Ray

Perpetrator is a surreal horror-thriller from director Jennifer Reeder, blending coming-of-age drama with feminist body-horror. The story follows Jonny Baptiste, a rebellious teenage girl sent to live with her eccentric aunt, Hildie. On her 18th birthday, Jonny undergoes a bizarre and terrifying metamorphosis known as “Forevering,” a supernatural inheritance passed down through the women in her family. As she struggles to understand her new powers, a wave of mysterious disappearances grips her high school, with girls vanishing without a trace.

Reeder injects the film with biting satire and dreamlike unease, blending the aesthetic of teen melodrama with unsettling Lynchian horror. Alicia Silverstone delivers a darkly comic supporting role, adding an extra layer of menace. Perpetrator critiques patriarchal violence and predatory systems, while using body-horror as a metaphor for transformation, power, and survival.

It premiered at the 2023 Berlin International Film Festival and has been praised for its bold, unconventional style, eerie imagery, and feminist edge, making it a cult entry in modern indie horror.
