Deadly Friend Limited Edition Blu-ray

Deadly Friend, directed by Wes Craven, is a horror-thriller that blends science fiction with tragic romance. The film follows teenage genius Paul Conway, who moves to a new town with his mother and his homemade AI robot, BB. Paul befriends Samantha, the girl next door, who suffers abuse from her violent father.

After Samantha is fatally injured, Paul uses his experimental technology to implant BBÕs microchip into her brain, reviving her Ñ but with unintended and terrifying consequences.

What begins as a story of young love and scientific curiosity soon spirals into horror, as SamanthaÕs reanimation unleashes violent, robotic impulses. Though the film was altered by studio-mandated changes that added more gore and slasher elements, Craven originally envisioned a gothic sci-fi love story in the spirit of Frankenstein.

Despite its mixed reception on release, Deadly Friend has since gained cult status thanks to its unusual mix of melodrama, tragic undertones and outrageous practical effects Ñ including the infamous Òbasketball head explosionÓ scene.
