Synopsis:

Pearl serves as a prequel to X (2022), exploring the early life of its unhinged antagonist. Set in 1918 on a remote Texas farm, Pearl (Mia Goth) is a young woman suffocating under the weight of rural isolation, wartime absence, and the oppressive rule of her devout German mother. With her husband away and the Spanish Flu raging, Pearl dreams of stardom—craving escape, recognition, and a life in technicolor. But as her fantasies curdle into madness, Pearl’s violent instincts surface: cruelty, betrayal, and murder escalate in a performance of repression turned feral. With lush, vintage-inspired visuals and a chilling central performance, Pearl is a dazzling, disturbing dive into the making of a monster.
