The film
About the film
Eddington is a bold, genre‑blurring contemporary western by Ari Aster, set in May 2020 in a small New Mexico town. When Sheriff Joe Cross (Joaquin Phoenix) clashes with Mayor Ted Garcia (Pedro Pascal) over COVID‑19 restrictions, mask mandates and growing social unrest, the town becomes a powder keg of conspiracy, protest, and primal rage. With wife Louise (Emma Stone) and radical cult leader Vernon Jefferson Peak (Austin Butler) caught in the crossfire, the film spirals into a violent, absurd portrait of America fracturing under ideology and trauma. Eddington fuses western tropes, political satire and thriller violence into a provocative, unsettling reflection of our times.
