"The Cornetto Trilogy"

Edgar Wright, the director, once said he jokingly referred to Shaun of the Dead as the “Strawberry Cornetto movie” because the characters eat Cornetto ice cream, and the red (strawberry) flavor visually aligns with the film’s zombie gore.

When it came time to make Hot Fuzz, Wright included another Cornetto (this time, blue/wrapped in blue, to represent the police), and a joke formed between Wright and star/co-writer Simon Pegg. They decided to treat it like a parody of thematic trilogies—like Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Three Colours trilogy—but with ice cream.

By the time they made The World’s End, they completed the “trilogy” with a green mint Cornetto, symbolizing sci-fi and aliens (or perhaps drunken sickness, according to Wright).

Shaun of the Dead (2004)

Shaun is a directionless Londoner who finds himself in the middle of a zombie apocalypse—and decides it’s the perfect time to sort out his life, win back his girlfriend, and save his mum. Directed by Edgar Wright, this horror-comedy blends genuine scares with rapid-fire wit and heartfelt moments.
