The Worlds End / Hot Fuzz / Shaun Of The Dead 4K Ultra HD + Blu-Ray

Director: Edgar Wright

"The Cornetto Trilogy"

Edgar Wright, the director, once said he jokingly referred to Shaun of the Dead as the “Strawberry Cornetto movie” because the characters eat Cornetto ice cream, and the red (strawberry) flavor visually aligns with the film’s zombie gore.

When it came time to make Hot Fuzz, Wright included another Cornetto (this time, blue/wrapped in blue, to represent the police), and a joke formed between Wright and star/co-writer Simon Pegg. They decided to treat it like a parody of thematic trilogies—like Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Three Colours trilogy—but with ice cream.

By the time they made The World’s End, they completed the “trilogy” with a green mint Cornetto, symbolizing sci-fi and aliens (or perhaps drunken sickness, according to Wright).

Shaun of the Dead (2004)

Shaun is a directionless Londoner who finds himself in the middle of a zombie apocalypse—and decides it’s the perfect time to sort out his life, win back his girlfriend, and save his mum. Directed by Edgar Wright, this horror-comedy blends genuine scares with rapid-fire wit and heartfelt moments. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost lead a cast of quirky characters through a blood-soaked pub crawl filled with cricket bats, ironic jukebox tracks, and unexpected emotional weight. A modern cult classic, Shaun of the Dead redefined the zombie genre while launching Wright’s kinetic visual style and sharp genre satire.

Hot Fuzz (2007)

Sgt. Nicholas Angel is a hyper-competent London cop reassigned to a sleepy English village—only to discover that it hides a dark secret behind its perfect crime rate. Hot Fuzz is Edgar Wright’s explosive parody of buddy cop action films, overflowing with rapid cuts, small-town satire, and genre-deconstructing brilliance. With absurd shootouts, cult conspiracies, and a goose named Nicholas, the film’s charm lies in its ability to be both a love letter to action cinema and a razor-sharp send-up. Pegg and Frost’s chemistry is peak here, blending slapstick with sincere friendship and mayhem.

The World’s End (2013)

Five estranged friends reunite to complete an epic pub crawl they failed in their youth, only to discover their hometown has been taken over by body-snatching robots. The World’s End is the most existential of the trilogy, blending sci-fi invasion tropes with themes of addiction, friendship, and arrested development. Wright’s signature editing style meets an eerie blend of comedy and despair as Simon Pegg delivers a surprisingly raw performance. Underneath the pub fights and alien conspiracies lies a melancholic reflection on growing up and letting go.
