Wake In Fright Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD

Director: Ted Kotcheff

HAVE A DRINK, MATE? HAVE A FIGHT, MATE? HAVE A TASTE OF DUST AND SWEAT, MATE? THEREÕS NOTHING ELSE OUT HERE.

Raw and brutal in its depiction of Outback drinking culture in the 1970s, Wake in Fright is an uncompromising landmark of Australian cinema from director Ted Kotcheff.

John Grant, played by Gary Bond, is a bored schoolteacher working in the remote outback who stops overnight in the frontier mining town of Bundanyabba on his way back to Sydney for the Christmas holidays. After losing all his savings in a disastrous gambling bet, Grant finds himself trapped and drawn into the hard-drinking, hard-living world of the townÕs men, led by Doc, played by Donald Pleasence. As the days pass, the town threatens to consume him, pulling him deeper into violence, despair and madness.

Ignored on its original release, Wake in Fright has since been recognised as one of AustraliaÕs most disturbing and important films, praised by figures including Martin Scorsese and Nick Cave, and is presented here in a definitive 4K restoration.
