The film
About the film
James Whale's Bride of Frankenstein (1935) is widely regarded as one of the greatest horror films of all time and a rare sequel that surpasses its original. Picking up where Frankenstein (1931) left off, the film finds the Monster surviving the fiery destruction and continuing his search for companionship and understanding. Meanwhile, Dr. Frankenstein is coerced by the sinister Dr. Pretorius into creating a mate for the creature. The result is the unforgettable "Bride," whose brief but iconic appearance has become a cornerstone of gothic cinema. Blending gothic horror, macabre humor, and social commentary, Whale crafted a film of striking visual style and tragic depth, often hailed as a masterpiece of early Hollywood horror.
