Flow 4K - The Criterion Collection (US Edition)

Flow, directed by Gints Zilbalodis, is a striking wordless animated adventure set in a post-apocalyptic world slowly consumed by rising floodwaters. The story follows a solitary cat navigating an environment where familiar landscapes have been submerged and survival depends on constant movement and adaptation. After escaping danger on dry land, the cat is forced to flee to higher ground as the waters rise, eventually finding refuge aboard a small boat shared with other animals, including dogs and a capybara. Together, they drift through surreal, partially submerged forests and ever-shifting environments, bound not by language but by the shared instinct to endure. With no dialogue and relying entirely on sound design, ambient noise, and visual storytelling, Flow communicates its themes implicitly, using imagery and movement to explore ideas of community, coexistence, transformation, and resilience. The result is a deeply immersive and meditative experience that trusts the audience to interpret meaning through observation and emotion.
