Director Renny Harlin is known for his work on action-packed films like "Cliffhanger" and "Die Hard 2." With "Deep Blue Sea," Harlin aimed to create a thrilling shark movie that would stand out in the genre. The film was shot primarily at Fox Baja Studios in Rosarito, Mexico, where sets were constructed above large water tanks originally built for "Titanic."

Plot Summary: The film is set in an isolated underwater facility where scientists are conducting research on mako sharks to develop a cure for Alzheimer's disease. However, things go awry when the genetically engineered sharks become smarter and more aggressive, leading to a series of terrifying attacks. The facility's inhabitants must fight for survival as the sharks wreak havoc and flood the facility.

Awards: "Deep Blue Sea" received several award nominations and wins, including a Blockbuster Entertainment Award for LL Cool J as Favorite Supporting Actor - Action, and a BMI Film Music Award for Trevor Rabin. The film was also nominated for Best Visual Effects at the Las Vegas Film Critics Society Awards.
