English Patient — Criterion Collection 4K UHD US Edition

Anthony Minghella transforms Michael Ondaatje’s prizewinning novel into one of the most breathtaking romances ever put on-screen. Rescued from a crashed plane in the Sahara during World War II, a badly burned, unidentified man (Ralph Fiennes) comes under the care of a compassionate nurse (Juliette Binoche) as he slowly pieces together the memories of an affair that changed his life.

The English Patient is epic filmmaking of rare intelligence and delicacy, tracing a life-shaking reckoning amid the barriers that war creates and the capacities love transcends. The film captured the cultural imagination and the Academy Awards, winning nine Oscars including Best Picture.
