About the film
L'Atalante — Jean Vigo’s 1934 drama follows newlyweds Juliette and Jean as they attempt to make a life aboard the river barge L'Atalante, where tensions and small domestic battles play out alongside the ship’s crew. À propos de Nice — A short, observational piece that begins like a travel portrait of Nice and shifts into a wry, critical look at the town and its well-heeled visitors. Taris — A brief documentary centred on swimmer Jean Taris that foregrounds inventive camera work and striking close-ups of the athlete in motion. Zero de conduite — Set in a strict boarding school, this film charts the mounting frustrations of pupils and the climactic revolt staged by four boys during a day of celebration.
