MaXXXine is the 2024 finale of Ti West’s X trilogy, following X (2022) and Pearl. Mia Goth returns as Maxine Minx, survivor of the original massacre, now trying to break into mainstream Hollywood in 1985. Ambition leads her to audition for a horror film (The Puritan II) even as the “Night Stalker” — a serial killer terrorizing Los Angeles — starts targeting starlets. Old secrets, creepy stalkers, betrayals, and Maxine’s complicated relationship with fame and trauma all collide. It’s part slasher, part “rise-to-stardom” tale with plenty of period detail — scorched glamour, ’80s nostalgia, and lots of tension as Maxine fights to escape both her past and the killer hunting her.
