This is the soundtrack album, predominantly featuring the songs from the film. (Ludwig GšranssonÕs score is due later this year.)
Sinners (2025) features two distinct yet interwoven albumsÑa soundtrack of period-performed songs and an original score by Ludwig GšranssonÑboth serving as pivotal elements of Ryan CooglerÕs supernatural horror set in 1930s Mississippi.
Gšransson crafted the score primarily on a rare 1932 Dobro resonator guitar, shaping blues-infused textures that act almost as a narrative voice. The instrumentÕs natural metallic resonance deepens the filmÕs atmosphere, reinforcing themes of mysticism, community, and Black Southern folklore. Working closely with Coogler on set, Gšransson composed and refined much of the material during production, with Serena Gšransson co-producing to preserve the scoreÕs grounded, organic sound.
The soundtrack album features 22 tracks, released April 18, 2025, blending blues, gospel, folk, jazz, and soulÑmany performed live on set by cast members and regional musicians. Guest artists include Rod Wave, whose title track ÒSinnersÓ anchors the album, alongside Brittany Howard, Raphael Saadiq, Rhiannon Giddens, Hailee Steinfeld (ÒDangerousÓ), James Blake, Eric Gales, and Buddy Guy. The result is a fusion of historical and contemporary styles: blues guitar licks, the depth of gospel harmonies, and bursts of electric guitar during supernatural climaxesÑall reflecting the filmÕs shifting emotional and tonal landscape.
