About the film
When a space satellite returns to Earth and a lethal incident wipes out a town, Dr. Jeremy Stone (Arthur Hill) rushes with colleagues Dr. Charles Dutton (David Wayne), Dr. Mark Hall (James Olson) and Dr. Ruth Leavitt (Kate Reid) to a secure laboratory in Piedmont, New Mexico to identify the culprit and work out why only two people — an elderly alcoholic and a six-month-old baby — survived. As they try to isolate the organism it alters itself, threatening containment and triggering the lab’s nuclear self-destruct protocol. Directed by Robert Wise, 1971.
