Directed by Akira Kurosawa, The Hidden Fortress is a blend of samurai adventure and sly comedy set during feudal Japan. Two bumbling peasants, Tahei and Matashichi, stumble upon a general (Toshiro Mifune) and a mysterious woman who are secretly transporting a hidden treasure across enemy territory. Unbeknownst to them, the woman is Princess Yuki of a defeated clan, and the mission is to restore her to safety and power. As the group navigates treacherous terrain, ambushes, and moral dilemmas, themes of loyalty, greed, and honor emerge.
