The film
About the film
As Cambodia descends into chaos during the rise of the Khmer Rouge, American journalist Sydney Schanberg forms a close bond with his Cambodian interpreter and friend, Dith Pran. When foreign correspondents are forced to flee the country, Schanberg escapes to safety while Pran is left behind to endure the horrors of one of the twentieth century’s most brutal regimes.
Separated by war but united by loyalty and friendship, the two men face extraordinary personal sacrifices in a powerful true story of courage, survival and the enduring human spirit.
Directed by Roland Joffé and based on real events, The Killing Fields is an unforgettable historical drama featuring Academy Award-winning performances and a deeply moving portrayal of one of history’s darkest chapters.
