Synopsis:

Pearl (2022) serves as a prequel to X, diving into the early life of the trilogy’s titular villain. Trapped caring for her ailing father under the harsh rule of her devout mother Ruth, and with the Spanish Flu pandemic raging outside, Pearl’s frustrations and repressed desires begin to crack through the surface. As isolation festers and dreams curdle, she spirals into violence—committing increasingly horrific acts in pursuit of recognition. A Technicolor-inspired horror melodrama, Pearl fuses classic cinema style with raw brutality. Mia Goth’s unforgettable performance cements the character’s tragic descent into madness and murder.
